Phantogram About Eyelid Movies:

“This album was recorded in upstate, New York during 2007 – 2008 in of all places, a barn. It was done on the cheap, resulting in a lo-fi sound that was challenging and pushed us to find new ways to do what we do.

It’s something that we take a lot of pride in. We used numerous samplers, guitars, analog synths, keyboards, drum kit, various percussive instruments, tapes, records, a 4-track, computer, and a myriad of guitar pedals to create this album. We have influences ranging from soul, jazz, concrete, rock, shoegaze, hip-hop, psyche, afro-beat, and pop. Pulling from this many influences came naturally, not forced. We figure this is a sign of being on the right track. Lyrically the songs are inspired by visuals that come from within: imaginary scenarios, life and death, existence, and chase scenes involving psychic spies. Those Eyelid Movies are dreams or the images you see right before you fall asleep.”
